Hi, I’m Shanti!
From early in the morning until 5 in the afternoon I look after the children at the Abbotsleigh tea plantation. We pay attention to their health. For example, we monitor their weight. We also provide the necessary vaccinations.
The foundation takes good care of us and takes into account the needs that are there.
We take care of these children from the age of six months until they start school. It makes us happy that we help these little children grow up. They go to school and do their best to learn a lot.
Education projects
Fair Grounds Foundation supports education projects in Sri Lanka to provide children with better opportunities for the future. We invest in facilities, educational materials, and additional training, such as English and ICT lessons. By providing essential resources like school supplies, electrical infrastructure, and computers, we significantly improve learning conditions.
Our projects focus on developing digital skills, which are essential in today’s world. With special attention to English lessons, we also enhance students’ international communication abilities. These efforts contribute to improved educational outcomes and support schools in achieving sustainable growth.

Beekeeping project
Fair Grounds Foundation supports sustainable agriculture in Sri Lanka through a beekeeping project, training 50 organic farmers in beekeeping and honey production. This project enhances crop yields through improved pollination, provides farmers with an additional source of income, and offers them the necessary training and materials to produce honey independently.

Fairtrade support
Fair Grounds Foundation supports producers in developing countries in obtaining Fairtrade certifications. This certification provides access to fair prices, stable markets, and international trade. While the benefits are significant, the process is often challenging due to strict audits, high costs, and required adjustments to production processes.
To help overcome these obstacles, Fair Grounds Foundation offers financial support. This assistance helps producers meet Fairtrade standards and promotes sustainable growth. With certification, local communities can invest in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and environmentally friendly agriculture, contributing to improved living conditions and economic progress.

New floor at the Communitea Center
It is great to have a place where we can celebrate life and remember. It feels good to have the community center where we can share both festive and sad moments. The Community Center contributes to the community spirit from which we all benefit.
New-build project pharmacy
While talking with the families that live around the tea plantations, we learned that a new pharmacy is high on their wish list. The old pharmacy no longer complies with modern-day requirements and hygiene standards. Especially in these pandemic times, the community needs a well-functioning and spacious pharmacy where professionals can work under the most hygienic conditions. The new pharmacy will get a waiting room, a consultation room, ample sanitary facilities and, of course, a medication collection counter.
